This is the ultimate excuse to act silly to a soundtrack of the purest musical fromage. Poptastic, cheesy tunes from yesteryear are the order of the day - come along and indulge your guilty pleasures at the ultimate student night!
Featuring tip-top retro anthems from POP!'s resident DJ Disco Dave…
In 1982, family pop dynasty Dagenham Dave & The Disco Slaves were riding high in the charts with their dancefloor anthem, "The Beat is Thumping (My Love is Pumping)". However, following a embarrassing incident with a badger and a reporter from the Daily Star, their ascent into pop’s higher echelons was cruelly skewered, paving the way for a bunch of lightweight chancers like Showaddywaddy and Wham! to become icons of a generation.
The child star of that family, Little David D’isceaux, vowed to clear the name of his disgraced family and pursued an ill-fated career in pop music. The result was his highly-awaited comeback single "Every Badger (Just Wants to Be Loved)" which limped to Number 405 in the charts with just 13 sales. His career has now been relegated to the student market as he plots his great comeback to show us once and for all that his star will shine again…
ABBA, Aqua, Backstreet Boys, Baha Men, Basshunter, Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Blue, Bon Jovi, Britney Spears, Calvin Harris, Carly Rae Jepsen, Cascada, Chesney Hawkes, Crazy Frog, David Guetta, DJ Caspar, Eiffel 65, 50 Cent, Flo Rida, Girls Aloud, Gwen Stefani, Hanson, Jackson 5, Journey, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, LMFAO, Los Del Rio, Lou Bega, Maroon 5, Nelly, Nicki Minaj, Peter Andre, Pink, Psy, Pussycat Dolls, Queen, R Kelly, Rednex, Rihanna, Scouting For Girls, Steps, Sugababes, Take That, Vengaboys, Village People, Westlife, Wham!, Whitney Houston and many, many more…
Now for a bit of housekeeping…
When a ticket for circling is purchased, it brings up a pop-up box asking for your club or society name. On the day of the event, a report is then published which lists the people who have purchased circling tickets by their club/soc name. Based on this list, tables are allocated on a percentage basis - there will then be a list at the front door, by the tills or inside the venue foyer listing which groups are where and how many tables each group should have (e.g. ‘[Society name] in Rouge with 1 table'). You then go and get the number of tables and chairs you require and set up.
You will need to start packing down the furniture at about 21:45 (or when you are asked to) so that the Venues can be ready to open for the actual event at 22:00. Your whole club/soc will be expected to help clear away the furniture and, if there are any issues with clearing down, you won’t be able to circle in future.
There are only 700 circling tickets available each week - if you have purchased one then you are able to come and circle; if not, you will not be able to enter until the event starts at 22:00.
Current students & guests only
This event is included in the Annual Pass (circling & event) and Pop! Season Pass (circling & event)
