Event Description

Gold Practice Expedition 2026

Event from Duke of Edinburgh's Award Society

Saturday 27 June 2026, 10.00AM - Tuesday 30 June 2026, 10.00PM

The Peak District, Derbyshire

This is the Gold Practice Expedition for the 2025/26 academic year, taking place in the Peak District.

Participation is limited to current Gold participants who have completed all mandatory training sessions. This Practice Expedition is a compulsory requirement for those wishing to take part in the Qualifying Expedition, which will take place towards the end of the summer holidays.

The expedition lasts four days and three nights. On the first day, everyone will meet at Cannon Park Shopping Centre and travel to the Peak District, set up camp, and complete an acclimatisation walk. On the second day, teams will set off early and navigate to their next campsite, where they will stay overnight. The third day follows a similar format, with participants navigating to a final campsite for their last night. On the fourth and final day, teams will complete the last stage of their route and navigate to the designated pick-up point.

Once all teams have completed the expedition, participants and supervisors will enjoy a group meal at a local pub before beginning the journey home.

Participants must bring all food required for the four days, along with any personal equipment that is not provided by us. A detailed information pack will be shared in the group chat, outlining the kit you will need and the equipment we can supply.  If you are not in the groupchat (which theoretically everyone elligible should be) or are curious about elligibility please reach out to us at dofewarwick@gmail.com.

Please note: you cannot attend this expedition as a participant unless you are currently enrolled on the Gold Award with us and have successfully completed all mandatory training delivered earlier this year.
