π€ Speakers
Michael Mekuleyi | Google Developer Expert (Cloud) and Senior DevOps/Platform Engineer
Talk: Architecting AI-Native Applications with Gemini and Cloud Run
Michael will walk through how developers can design and deploy AI-native applications on Google Cloud using Gemini and Cloud Run, covering integration of Gemini models into backend services for text generation, summarisation, intelligent search, and automated decision-making. He will also explore how Cloud Run enables scalable, serverless deployment of AI workloads with no infrastructure overhead. Practical patterns covered include secure API integration, containerising AI workloads, auto-scaling architectures, and best practices around observability and cost management. Attendees will leave knowing how to take an AI idea from experimentation to production.
Michael also leads a hands-on workshop in the afternoon putting these skills into practice.
Dr Ziad Fakhoury | Postdoctoral Researcher, Department of Chemistry, University of Warwick
Talk: Machine Learning for Protein Simulation
Ziad brings a unique perspective from the intersection of computational science and machine learning. His PhD at Warwick (Centre for Doctoral Training in Modelling of Heterogeneous Systems) focused on computational frameworks for protein folding dynamics. He will explore how ML techniques are being applied to study and simulate proteins, a field with major implications for drug discovery, biology, and materials science. His talk draws on experience with ML, topological data analysis, and molecular simulation, making complex science genuinely accessible.
Vasudev Maduri | Google Developer Expert (Cloud) and Staff Data Engineer at Admiral Group
Workshop: AI Agents — Introduction, Use Cases with ADK and Best Practices
Vasudev leads the afternoon's closing workshop on AI Agents. He will cover what agents actually are, how Google's Agent Development Kit (ADK) fits in, practical use cases, and best practices for building reliable agentic systems. The session includes hands-on lab work using Google Cloud credits, so please bring your laptop. Vasudev has delivered over 30 talks globally and brings real production experience from his time at Admiral Group, Hitachi, and Ford.
